Psycho Killer Raccoons Terrorize Olympia

A fierce group of raccoons has killed 10 cats, attacked a small dog and bitten at least one pet owner who had to get rabies shots, residents of Olympia say.

Some have taken to carrying pepper spray to ward off the masked marauders and the woman who was bitten now carries an iron pipe when she goes outside at night. "It's a new breed,'' said Tamara Keeton, who with Kari Hall started a raccoon watch after an emotional neighborhood meeting drew 40 people. "They're urban
raccoons, and they're not afraid.''

I'm not sure what's up with the AP story, which is why I posted it to my column.

Yeah, I commented on the AP article that the title was HILARIOUSLY awesome. And then when my comment tracker said there was more comments...it was gone. No fair!

I think I have a raccoon in my garage. I hate it, but I think I am going to have to call a pest control person. Hopefully I don't have this particular variety of raccoon.

Actually, there is a sizable band of raccoons that makes its way around my neighborhood. People take turns feeding them pet foods and they're quite bold. I think they're cute!

In the retirement home that I work at, there's this squirrel named Chester, and he is extremely courageous. It can and will run and chase you, and loves to be hand-fed.

I have no problem with them. I live in the country, and i have coyotes, deer, rabbits, raccoons etc all wild. However, the second they try to mess with my pets or chickens, they will be introduced Mr. moss-berg with a nickle slug.
